Walks and Talks
Illona Keenan knows her weedsThere’s a new look to our annual Guided Walks and Seminar Series this year. Instead of cramming these events into March and April, we’re extending the programme throughout 2026 as we celebrate our centenary.
Here are the first, March events:
Evening seminar (March 3): The horrid weeds of Pōneke and mobilising community action, with weed specialists Illona Keenan and Nigel Charman. ‘Come curious and leave inspired by the power of collective effort to help protect our native species’. 7.30pm at Tāne Whakapiripiri, gold coin.
And on March 22, take a walk with Te Papa scientists, Phil Sirvid and Julia Kaspar, to find the little guys - flies and spiders. We might normally shy away from these but come and learn how they are integral to the native ecosystem of Ōtari-Wilton’s Bush. (2 to 3.30pm, $10, members free, limit 20, book with Eventfinda.)
We’ll post the full programme on our website’s ‘Visiting Ōtari’ page very soon.
