Winter Glowworm Tours

The Trust offers guided night tours to see Ōtari’s resident titiwai (glowworms), plus other things that emerge in the night

Each winter we host guided tours in the early evenings to discover titiwai, and other wildlife creatures who venture out in the night in Ōtari-Wilton’s Bush. Word has certainly got out about our titiwai, last season we hosted some 250 people in 13 tours. More wanted to come but there was no room at the ‘titiwai inn’, and turns out it’s been the same story this year.

Additional tours in August were quickly snapped up.

Despite their popularity, we were unable to add more tours. Dates are timed during early or late moon cycles, when the sky is darker and the glowworms brighter! And as it gets closer to summer obviously it gets dark later, so not really suitable for late night expeditions!

Be sure to be in quick in 2026.
